Basic Skills, GED Preparation, and English as a Second Language Classes

Childcare: Please call our office if you would need childcare to participate in GED preparation class. We are considering offering childcare if there is a need for it.

ABE participants are 16 or older, not enrolled in secondary school, and functioning below the 12th grade level in any of the basic academic areas: reading, math, writing, and communication in English.

What is GED?

GED stands for General Education Development. The GED tests measure knowledge of science, social studies, math, reading, and writing. When all four GED tests are passed, the certification can be used in place of a high school diploma for applying to jobs or colleges. For more information, click here.

Adult Basic Education: For adults of all ages who want to acquire or improve their math, reading, grammar and/or writing skills for work, training, college or for personal enrichment. For more information, click here.

Experience the rewards of tutoring in only a few hours per week. Help adults learn basic English skills or improve their reading, writing, math or GED subject areas to gain skills needed to become self-sufficient, pass tests, obtain jobs or advance to post-secondary training.

Training is required:

Attend one WEST Adult Basic Education Tutor Orientation:

  • Wednesday, Jan 20 | 6:00 - 8:00p

Then attend the two day combination English and Literacy Training:

  • Saturday, Jan 23 | 9:00a - 4:00p &
  • Monday, Jan 25 | 6:30 - 9:30p
